Each day brings a new adventure, with a different theme and skill focus, giving you a taste of what it means to explore and play in the Alaskan wilderness. Whether you sign up for one day or the whole week, get ready to step outside, make new friends, and discover the wild world around you.
From building shelters and starting campfires to navigating trails and spotting wildlife, every day is packed with exciting activities and challenges. But it’s not just about skills — it’s about having fun outdoors, working together, and experiencing the thrill of Alaska’s untamed beauty. What you’ll learn
Each day of Adventure Week is a new adventure! Throughout the week, students will explore the outdoors while building practical skills and discovering their own strengths.
- Outdoor Skills: Learn how to build a shelter, start a campfire, and read a map — the essentials for any adventurer.
- Teamwork & Leadership: Work together to solve challenges, support your team, and step into leadership roles.
- Confidence & Resilience: Step outside your comfort zone and tackle new experiences, building self-confidence along the way.
- Nature Awareness: Explore Alaska’s wild landscapes, spot local wildlife, and deepen your connection with the natural world.
- Adventure & Fun: Most importantly — have a blast outdoors, make new friends, and create unforgettable memories!

Daily Schedule
8:30 AM — Meet in Palmer: Instructors and campers gather, check gear, and prepare for the day’s adventure.
9:00 AM — Depart by van: Load up and head to the day’s outdoor destination.
9:30 AM – 3:30 PM — Adventure Time: Dive into the day’s theme—hiking, knots, fire building, or exploring the Alaskan wilderness! Activities include hands-on learning, team challenges, and plenty of fun.
3:30-4:00 PM — Pack up and head back to Palmer.
4:30 PM — Parent Pickup: Meet back in Palmer for pickup and a quick recap of the day’s adventure.
A New Skill Everyday!
Navigation and Orienteering
- Skills: Map reading & compass use
- Learn how to use a map and compass to find your way
- Complete a mini orienteering course with fun clues and challenges
Knots & Shelter Building
- Skills: Essential knots & survival shelters
- Master useful knots for the outdoors – like the squar eknot, bowline, and clove hitch.
- Use your new skills to build a sturdy shelter using tarps, rope, and natural materials.
Fire building & Campfire Cooking
- Skills: Fire starting & outdoor cooking
- Learn how to safely start a fire using matches, flint, and steel.
- Practice simple campfire cooking – roast snacks or make a fun trail treat!
Wild Alaska Discovery
- Skills: Animal tracking & plant identification.
- Identify animal tracks and signs in the wild.
- Explore Alaskan plants – what’s safe, what’s not, and how to respect the environment.
Trail Skills & Team Adventures
- Skills: Hiking safety & trail navigation
- Learn how to pack a day pack, follow trail markers, and hike safely.
- Fun team games and challenges to build confidence and communication.
