This intensive course designed for teens is a gateway to the world of pro-level Alaskan. Not what you’ll find at any summer camp!
This course is much more than climbing on a glacier. Students will learn to use knots, anchors, ropes, straps, and cord for everything from securing a load in a truck to climbing a vertical wall of ice.

What to expect:
This course starts with you and your team on our campus learning the fundamentals of anchors, knots, straps and ropes. Imagine mastering essntial knots and rigging techniques, learning to secure gear like an Alaskan pro, building your own bombproof shelter, and preparing to climb ice.
After honing your skills, you’ll embark on a two day advanced ice climbing course on the legendary Matanuska Glacier. Picture scaling towering frozen giants, exploring a crevasse, and conquering the elements with every crampon step.

Class Requirements
- -Good physical condition
- -Ability to walk for several hours in crampons over uneven and difficult terrain
- -Comfort with exposure to heights and rugged environments
- -Ability to listen attentively and follow all directions
- -Willingness to help with all camp chores, gear management, and morale
