A Day in the Life
What can you expect when you wake up on our mountain side campus? What experiences and challenges will you tackle and overcome? What adventures are you going to have? During The 10 Day Matanuska Adventure Expedition you will have the opportunity to experience:
- Ice Climbing on the Matanuska Glacier with MICA Guides
- Learning how to use gear
- “Dialing in” the challenges of living remotely
- Learning how to read a map
- Introduction to Wilderness First Aid Skills
- Backpacking in the Talkeetna mountains
- Building Community through Empathy, Collaboration and Communication
You’ll become more reliant on yourself, and less reliant on your phone.
A Day at Base Camp
Rise and Shine at 8am
Opening Circle 8:30-9am
Clean and Break Time
Introduction to Essential Skill and Activity
12:00-1pm Break For Lunch
Field Time and Skills Practice/Adventure/Beatification and Service Projects
5pm Return to Camp
5:15-6:30 Dinner Prep
6:30-7:30 Dinner and Clean Up
7:30-9:30 Community Circle (Guest Speakers, Journaling, Community Building, Games)
9:30- 10pm Solitude
10pm Lights Out
A Day in the Field
Early Rise at 7am Breakfast and Pack Depart for Field (if not already in the field) Introduce Outdoor Skills such as: Hike, Backpack, Ice Climb, Navigation and Orienteering, or Alpine Travel Practice this Skill, Lunch, Community Building, Have Fun Return Back to Base around 5pm Unpack and prep for Dinner 6:15-7:30 Dinner and Clean 7:30-9:30 Community Circle (Guest Speakers, Journaling, Community Building, Games) 9:30- 10pm Solitude 10pm Lights Out |
